Trap..Not. TRAP!!!

Recently i begin to explore the world of TRAP!! in anime culture. I don’t know why, but i found it to be a somewhat fascinating..uh, phenomenon. Then it got me thinking on why the concept of a male character disguise as a female character is so popular. I thank/blame danbooru for enlightening me for introducing me to the wonderful of trap!!.

Truth be told, the first trap!! character i discovered was Jun from the anime/eroge Happiness!!. And yes, i thought he was a she at first. After that, i discovered a flurry of Trap!! characters such as Mizuho Miyanokouji from Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru and those three blokes from princess princess.

So now i wonder why the fascination with TRAP!! characters. Is it some yearning inside male for femininity? or is it that some bloke who is gayish inside and ashamed of it, prefer male characters who are somewhat feminine and fulfil the criteria of having both male and female quality? i don’t know. But hey, everybody have their own taste..

As for me…ok, Jun is cute. But sure as hell i’m not gay. I am secure in my masculinity.

GAmePAtch Shuffle!

Most likely most you folk are aware of Shuffle! game or anime, produce by The goof folks at Navel. Aside from Shuffle!,  they also produce game such as Tick Tack! and Really? Really! ( To read the review for these game’s, head over to Visual-Novels, where you can find excellent reviews for the game mention). Welll, a group of enterprising,uh, folks are translating the shuffle! game. And what i’ve seen so far, they doing a fine job. What they aiming for is a total translation of the game. Which is fine with folks like me who couldn’t read japanese worth a damn.

For the omoment, they release an alpha patch, which covers the first 3 days of gameplay. Download the patch to see if you have any problem running the game with the patch installed. They are also in the midst of translating the game Tick Tack! into english as well. No patch for Tick Tack! though at the moment. Kudos for gamePatch, really. They have to translate bazillion of japanese lines, translate them and re-insert the whole bloody thing into the game back. Who could not admire such work they doing.

So, head over to GamePatch. Join the forum while you’re there. Got a bunch of fun lovin’ people there. And a loli army as well . But be warned. Spammers beware, the moderator is somewhat strict. Its understandable because in the last incarnation of the site, there was  a great spam war, and things got wee bit out of control. So please be considerate and keep the spam to a minimum, eh?

If that doesn’t work….

Last Sunday, went to place my order for Max factory Suzumiya Haruhi and Rider Swimsuit. Well, the impression i had was no too encouraging. Appareantly there’s slim chances for me to get my grubby hands on both figures. Oh shmaps. Well, still paid the deposit…hoping kamisama would be kind enough for me to get at least one of the figurine.

Since it is highly unlikely for me to get any of the figurine, i decided that maybe i’m getting something else. Been thinking of getting either 1/6 Kaname Chidori or Good Smile 1/8 Sawachika Eri Pvc. True, aint exactly what i’m hoping for, but they the best next thing that i can buy and is readily available here.

Well, heres hoping that me order gets through.

How do i waste my money…let me count the way…

Well, its now the time of the month where i am hit by a bout of insanity of spending my money on inconsequential things. This is brought by me seeing this beauty at the net.

Yes, Suzumiya Haruhi, lord ascendant of the universe, is being release by the good folk by Max factory. Thing is, i found out by reading some prominent blog that for the initial production run, max factory will only be producing 5000, then increase to 10000. I mean, they got to be kidding, right? This is THE HOTTEST figurine this season. I mean people (including me) would sell an arm, leg or even their soul to get this. And i reckon it would be highly unlikely that this beauty will ever be brought in Malaysia. My best bet is to order it straight , but since i don’t have paypal…looks like i have to order through a dealer i met recently.He warned me that even he may not be able to procure it. Oh Shmaps. its like playing russian roulete. Sigh.

Then while surfing i inavertly stumble on Type Moon promo of their new game Fate/Zero. Click the link to Type Moon official website. While surfing blindly through the product section, i stumble on this beauty…

Its 1/8 PVC Hobby Japan Limited Edition Rider Swimsuit version. And the thing is you can only get this if you buy Megami magazine and use the coupon to make you eligible to get that beauty. Why oh why that rider figurine is so hard to get. I couldnt even find Goodsmile Rider figurine anywhere. And i reckon its almost impossible to get the beauty above in malaysia as well. Geez. talk about bad luck. Well, looks like i have to try, no matter what. Its Rider we talking about here. In swimsuit. Sigh. Need i to say more

A small victory….

I achieve a small victory for otakunism (is that even a word, i wonder?). I manage to convice my sister to change her mail alert sound on her mobile. So now everytime she gets a new mail, tamaki kousaka (of to heart 2) will inform her in her cheery yet seductive voice that she have a new message. Manage to get that sound from the to heart Desktop Accesory. Now to convert my sis into an otome .

Today i will whine. Yes, i need to let of some steam, so sorry,eh? . Lately bad luck seems to follow me whenever i go. First my digital camera broken, for no apparent reason. The darn thing refuse to turn on. Then not long after that, my pc wont start up. Crap. After doing diagnostic, i found out that i need to change both the processor AND the motherboard. Thank god i have some spare money this month. Now to save some money to repair the digital camera. Already set aside some money for this beauty. Which mean i will starve for the rest of this month. I mean…haruhi is more important than my health, right?

Back and late, as usual….

Well, been ages since i posted. I blame on my procrastinating, familial duties and my late night session in Dark Crusade. As usual,during the Eid holliday, went back to my grandma village back in the outskirts of Kota Bharu. Its the time, once in a year, the whole family gathers and such. So me and me cousins have this little gathering where we play bowling. Thing is, imagine a city of thousands of people, and only two bowling place in it. So yeah, to be able to play in either place, it boils down to sheer luck.

As usual, while waiting for our turn to play, me and a couple of my cuz went around looking as the various shops in the mall. We stumble upon a game shops. Then my eyes froze on their display shelves. Fate stay night trading figures? But there was only Saber. I immediately ask the shopkeeper, ‘got anymore of these?’. And he showed me the whole set. Thing is, i don’t want to get the whole set.I mean, why the heck i want Archer, eh? And surprisingly, he let me buy what i want. In the end got me saber and Rider without the mask. Sweet. Didn’t really like the design of Sakura, Ilya and Rin figure so i decided not to get them.
P.s In the end, didn’t get to play bowling at all that night.

Oh crap….

There i was, infront of my pc, mucking around doing pretty much nothing. I recently change my wallpaper to Primula from shuffle!. Then suddenly me mum walk in my room and look at the screen. She said ‘Oh, cute picture. Where is it from’. Would have been pure and simple if i just said ‘its from a cartoon, mum’. But i was tired from cleaning up the mess which is my room and i couldn’t think clearly. A bajillion answer raced through my head. ‘Its from an eroge mum’. ‘She’s 16 so its perfecly legal mum’ and so forth. As the battle rage in my head for the most appropiate answer, came this reply from my mouth:

‘Urgh,erm……aaahhh’ with a totally bewildered look on my face.

Yes folk, thats what i said.Brilliant wasn’t it. Then she gave me THAT kind of smile aka the smile that she show when she knows that did something bad. Man that was embarassing. Morale of the story here, for me anyway, be prepare ALWAYS.

To Animax or not

It’s been a month plus since Astro (the sat tv station) begin airing the Animax channel. It primarily shows licensed stuff. Hence most stuff is English dub, though most (or all) show have the option to switch back to japanese language. Most of the title are a mix of recent one (law of Ueki etc) to oldies (Dragonball BZ). For me personally, i’m quite happy that astro decided that they want to air such channel here.

My only gripe with animax is that most of the show don’t have any sort of subtitle whatsoever. I know some people (me included) hate to watch anime that has been dubbed in english. Its kinda frustating that when you switch the language, there is no subtitle. I mean, it would be rather nice if they include the subtitle as some cant stand english dub. Aside from that, i’m content with Animax channel. And i manage to catch up on some anime title that i havent manage to finish aka. R.O.D the tv etc.. Well, win some, lose some i guess.

Japan’s New Prime Minister Not Otaku–damn :(

Oh well, looks like Aso Rozen didn’t make the grade. Too bad. Well, at least he is still in the cabinet. Which country can boast that their foreign minister is an otaku? priceless
